Regular Outings & Excurisons

"Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the things you can think up if only you try!"      – Dr. Seuss
Pre-Kindy & Kindy Regular Outings & Incursions

Monday is Kindy Gym Day!

Our Kindy-Gym sessions take place at TJ's Gymnastics and are provided by an experienced gymnastics teacher. The children take the school bus to and from the venue, which they find almost as much fun as the class itself. Kindy Gym classes give children the opportunity to reach their potential, practice skills and actively solve problems. Packed with activities to develop gross and fine motor skills, music and rhythm, success, and challenges, classes are designed to develop physical literacy in the whole child, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Physical literacy is more than just the physical skills to help us move. It is the knowledge, behaviours, and confidence your children need to motivate them to lead active lives. Our level of physical literacy impacts the way we think and process information; our attitudes, emotions, feelings; and how we interact with others while being physically active. Focusing on ongoing growth, physical literacy involves holistic lifelong learning through movement and physical activity. It delivers physical, psychological, social and cognitive health and wellbeing benefits.

Tuesday is Library Day!

Our Tuesday visits to the library are a 'walking school bus', where children are escorted by their educators to the Rockingham Community Library, using a long rope and safety vests. They learn about road safety, and responsible behaviours when out in the community. Once at the library, the children return their books and participate in the 'Story Time' session, hosted by the Children's Librarian. Before returning, the children select a new book, which they will get to take home with them for the week. Reading and sharing stories can help your child; to develop early literacy skills, spark your child’s imagination, stimulate curiosity, develop your child’s ability to focus, promote social and communication skills. It can also; help your child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe’, assist your child to understand new or frightening events, and the strong emotions that come with them, help your child learn about the world, their own culture and other cultures. Sharing stories with your child doesn’t mean you have to read from the book. Just by looking at books with your child and talking about them, you can be a great storyteller and a good model for using language and books. Your child will learn by watching you hold a book the right way and seeing how you move through the book by gently turning the pages. The special time you spend reading together promotes bonding and helps to build your relationship with your child. For this reason, the Kindy children visit the library weekly for story time and borrow a book to take home and share with their family.

Thursday is Happy Feet Day!

Miss Vicki is our wonderful Happy Feet instructor, who the children delight in greeting each week. This class takes place onsite. Happy Feet covers a variety of topics each term, with a focus on Healthy Behaviours and Physical movement. All the children participate, with expectations altered to suit the group. Happy Feet Fitness has successfully evolved the concept of play-based learning, finding the perfect balance between educational content, creativity, health and social development in our super fun themed adventure classes. Whether it’s a song and dance for preschool or fun exercises for kids’ fitness, all of our activities are uniquely designed to encourage participation, expression and social interaction. We know it’s vitally important to get your children truly engaged. That is why every week we present a completely different class full of fun ideas and themes for the children to explore keeping the whole experience of Happy Feet Fitness new, entertaining and exciting.

Friday is Pre-School Drama Day!

Friday's Helen O'Grady Pre-School Drama class takes place onsite. Mrs Kristen is our experienced Drama teacher, who provides a Pre-School Drama program, tailored for the 3-5 year old children (Pre-Kindy children attend when they are ready). Mrs Kristen focuses on attentive behaviours, enunciation and projection when speaking, following multi-step instructions and expressing ourselves in meaningful ways. Drama has been a great way to build the children's confidence and school preparedness. Our specially written curriculum and specialist teacher training ensures our students have a balanced, fun-filled lesson every week. Our aim is to give children ongoing confidence, self-esteem and skill in verbal communication through dynamic, fun-filled classes. As well as language development, our Kindy Drama program also helps to develop important life skills for pre-schoolers such as taking turns, sharing, listening, following instructions, sequencing & memory skills and vocalising emotions. Pre-schoolers and their parents love the drama program and find it is a wonderful introduction to drama!
